How to get Windows 7 to stop logging into a temp profile

How to get Windows 7 to stop logging into a temp profile

Postby Alex Cabrera » Wed Apr 06, 2011 11:54 am

After completely deleting a profile some of you may have noticed that logging back in with this account causes windows 7 to use a temporary one. 7 automatically creates a backup of the profile which will need to be deleted in order for the user to rebuild the it. This backup is located in the registry at the following location.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

The folder you will want to delete will have a .bak, delete this key then log off and log back on to the desired account. You should no longer be logging into a temporary profile.
