Problem
The following error is written to the VirusScan 8.5i AccessProtectionLog.txt file:
Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM E:\GroupShield\McAfee GroupShield\bin\SAFeService.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\DesktopProtection\DefaultTask Common Standard Protection:Prevent modification of McAfee files and settings Action blocked : Write
Cause
SAFeService.exe should be added to the list of processes to exclude in VirusScan Enterprise. SAFeService.exe is the Server Anti-virus Framework - a McAfee component that is shared by a number of McAfee server-based anti-virus products.
Solution
1.
Click Start, Programs, McAfee, VirusScan Console.
2.
Right-click Access Protection, and select Properties.
3.
Select Common Standard Protection.
4.
Double-click Prevent modification of McAfee files and settings.
5.
Under Processes to exclude, navigate to the very end of the list.
NOTE: You might have to move some way down with your cursor.
6.
Type , safeservice.exe (that is: comma, space,filename), then click OK.
7.
Close the VirusScan Console.
